Abstract

This article attempts to analyze the ‘territories of enunciation' in the literary output of chileanwriter Rosario Orrego Uribe (1834-1879) in the perspective of a dialogue on the construction of the nation marked by liberalism and a cultural fi eld still in the making. We are interested in exploring the confi guration of female authorship in Orrego and her problematic entrance in the literate city, to account for women's subjectivities that are articulated from the division between marriage, motherhood, home and, on the other hand, the republic, the motherland and society.
