O presente estudo teve três objetivos: 1. Testar o papel moderador da função líder ou liderado sobre a relação preditiva das demandas emocionais, da dissonância emocional e dos conflitos sobre a síndrome de burnout (SB); 2. Testar o efeito mediador da inteligência emocional na relação preditiva das demandas emocionais, da dissonância emocional e dos conflitos sobre a SB em líderes; 3. Testar o efeito mediador do comportamento de liderança na relação preditiva das demandas emocionais, da dissonância emocional e dos conflitos sobre a SB em liderados. A amostra foi constituída por 379 liderados e 202 líderes que responderam um questionário sociodemográfico e laboral, o questionário para a avaliação da SB, a escala de Conflito Triplo 3IC e duas subescalas de trabalho emocional. Para líderes foi utilizada a Medida de Inteligência emocional e para liderados a escala de Comportamentos da liderança. Os resultados revelaram que a função de liderado apresenta um papel moderador na relação entre a dissonância emocional e a SB. As dimensões sociabilidade e automotivação funcionaram como mediadoras entre dissonância emocional e a SB no grupo de líderes e a liderança empoderadora exerceu função de mediação entre o conflito cognitivo com foco na tarefa e a SB.
